Forty one years in the same shop on N Franklin Street. No app, no membership, no upsell. You walk in, you wait your turn, you get a clean haircut at a fair price, and you are back out the door. Tuesday through Saturday.
Nothing fancy on this list, because a barber shop does not need a fancy list. It needs somebody who has cut ten thousand heads of hair and knows what yours should look like.
The everyday cut. Clippers, scissors, or both, cleaned up around the ears and the neck before you leave. Tell us how you want it or tell us to do what we always do, either answer works fine here.
Skin fades, low, mid and high, and clean tapers that grow out even instead of looking odd in two weeks. Bring a picture if you have one, we will tell you honestly whether it will work with your hair.
Beard lined up, cheeks and neck taken down to a clean edge, and the length evened out so it sits right. Quick add on to a haircut, or come in for just the beard if that is all you need.
Four decades of practice at cutting hair on a kid who does not want to sit still. First haircuts, back to school cuts and everything in between, and nobody here is in a hurry about it.
Hot lather and a straight razor down the neckline to finish the cut. It is the part most places skip now, and it is the reason a haircut from here still looks sharp a week later.
A lot of the men in this chair have been coming since the shop opened. Same steady hands, same fair price, and enough conversation to make it worth the trip into town.
122 N Franklin Street, right in downtown Richwood. Park out front, walk in, and wait your turn like everybody else. It has worked since 1985 and we are not planning to change it.
Tuesday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am to noon. Closed Sunday and Monday.
No appointments, no booking app. If there are two men ahead of you, it is a short wait and usually a good conversation.
Or do not, if you have been coming for twenty years. Either way you get told straight if something will not sit right with your hair.
Hot lather and a razor on the neckline, brush off, and you are done. Fair price, no add ons you did not ask for.
Richwood Barber Shop has been at 122 N Franklin Street for forty one years, run by Jim Goodwin. In that time it has cut hair for grandfathers, their sons and now their grandsons, mostly on the same schedule and mostly at the same price point. It is not a salon and it does not try to be. It is a barber shop in a small Ohio town where the door is open Tuesday through Saturday, where nobody needs an appointment, and where the man holding the clippers has been doing it longer than most of his customers have been alive. If you are new to Richwood, this is the shop people will tell you to go to. If you grew up here, you already know.
Open Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday mornings from 8:00 am until noon. Closed Sunday and Monday. Saturday fills up early, so if you want a short wait, come when the door opens. Call 740-943-3585 if you want to check before driving in.
Right on N Franklin Street in downtown Richwood, a couple of doors up from the square. Street parking out front. Easy run in from Marysville, Prospect, Magnetic Springs and the rest of northern Union County.
Call the shop at 740-943-3585 and ask. If you would rather send a note about a kid's first haircut, a group coming in, or anything else, use the form and we will get back to you.
Walk ins are how this shop works, so you never need to book anything to get a haircut.
$49 one time setup, then $79/month, no contract. Hosting, lead capture, traffic tracking, and your own dashboard are all included.
